The independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail has a bottling series called Rare Vintage. This is what they say about Rare Vintage:

In partnership with each respective distillery, all whiskies in our Rare Vintage range are uniquely labelled. In years gone by many of these unique designs were used 'officially' to bottle the whisky under license from the distillery.

Today these trusted relationships with distillers enables Gordon & MacPhail to bottle whiskies at various ages, strengths and vintages - all with their unique distillery label.

The Millburn I tasted was distilled in 1978 and bottled in 2008. The distillery closed in 1985.

From what I can see you may find it online at about € 275.

Nose (20/25): Quite heavy on the nose at first. There was tobacco and peat. The sweetness reminded me of Coca Cola. I found perfume as well. Strangely enough I would say it was quite fresh.

Taste (20/25): Perfume also on the palate. It was thin and sweet. Again the sweetness from Coca Cola.

Finish (20/25): First dry, then sweet. Still Coca Cola.

Balance (20/25): It was not a bad whisky, but it was not very exciting either. I am not a fan of perfume in my whisky and that is why it did not get any higher score from me.
