I continue working my way through the Loch Lomond core range. Today I have a closer look at the Loch Lomond 18 YO.
Matured in “the finest American Oak casks” is says on the label. More than that I do not know.
You can buy the Loch Lomond 18 YO in Norway at NOK 925 (1558001), in Sweden at SEK 689 (3801), and in the UK at around GBP 69.
Nose: Nutty chocolate. Nougat. Vanilla and cinnamon. Sweet wood smoke in the background.
Taste: Medium to full body. A deeper sweetness than the 12 YO. Malt, dark berries and oak. Again a mere indication of smoke.
Finish: Medium to long finish. Fizzy character with nuts, vanilla and apples. Chocolate confectionery with jam filling.
Comment: Mature and balanced.
