Liddesdale 21 YO Batch 6 (Bunnahabhain)
Liddesdale 21 YO Batch 6 (Bunnahabhain), 46 %
I have actually tasted four Liddesdales so far; batch 1, 2, 5 and 6. Batch 2 is already reviewed by me, and batch 5 is reviewed by my husband.
The Norwegian monopoly is not very specific on their web page, but either batch 5 or 6 is available at the price of NOK 780 (item number 372401). The age statement says "minimum 18 yo", but the bottle says 21 yo. In Sweden it is only batch 5 that is available at Systembolaget.
Nose (22/25): A complex nose. At first I picked out raisins and I thought the whisky was quite dusty. Then came orange peel and orange marmalade. In the end it tended towards a bit sour or bitter.
Taste (23/25): Lovely! Smooth and full bodied. It reminded me of the Norwegian caramel called 'Smørbukk'. Really sweet, but in a good way. A bit salty as well. It tasted almost like a salty caramel.
Finish (22/25): Salt and oranges. It lasted for long time.
Balance (22/25): This was a very nice whisky. I love the complex nose. I could just sit and sniff it for hours. The taste was delicious. It was not as complex and full on the finish, but it still had a good aftertaste. The score ended just above batch 5.
Score 89/100
