Ledaig 2005 9 YO Cask #0064, 46 %
This is a single cask release from independent bottler The Vintage Malt Company. Ledaig, as I am sure most of you know, is the peated whisky made at the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull.
The Ledaig 2005 9 YO Cask #0064 was matured in an unspecified hogshead, and the total outturn was 360 bottles.
You can buy the Ledaig 2005 9 YO Cask #0064 in Norway at NOK 949 (item number 2392101). This whisky is not available in Sweden.
Nose (21/25): Sugary and peaty. Chocolate and baked apples. Cold and wet stones at the Tobermory harbor. Hints of engine oil, salt and sea weed. Yep, definitely still on the pier at Tobermory harbor. Look at all the colors!
Taste (22/25): Peppery and peaty. It has quite a punch to it, sort of a friendly slap to the face. It has a lot of sugary sweetness to taste as well.
Finish (20/25): Warm and of medium length. It does take it down a few notches here, which is fine. Caramel, fruit drops and fizzy ginger soda.
Balance (22/25): Nose and palate are in unison here, and I think it works well. It is relatively young, and quite feisty, but sometimes that is exactly what we need from our dram. Wake up!
Score (85/100)
I was unable to find any image of this bottle anywhere on the 'net. We therefore have to settle for the Cooper's Choice logo. Sorry about that.
