Samaroli is an Italian independent bottler. We have not tried many of their products, but they are becoming more readily available in Norway and Sweden, so expect more reviews to appear.

We have now tried the Laphroaig 1998 15 YO Cask #700551. This whisky was distilled on 1998-11-11, and bottled 2014-05-28. The total outturn was 377 bottles.

The Laphroaig 1998 15 YO Cask #700551 is available to buy in Norway at NOK 1745 (item number 1748901). It is not presently available in Sweden, and a quick look at Google reveals that most of these bottles have probably ended up in Japan.

Nose (21/25): Lemon mousse! Vanilla and sweet berries. Earthy, peaty and medicinal notes. Ashes. It is quite fresh.

Taste (20/25): Chocolate, vanilla, earthy notes, peat smoke, and a hint of mint.

Finish (21/25): Chocolate mousse, warm ashes. It becomes quite dry on the finish.

Balance (20/25): I do miss some of the Laphroaig creaminess here, but it is still quite good.
