Kilchoman 2009 VintageHere is a relatively new product from Islay distillery Kilchoman. The Kilchoman 2009 Vintage was launched on 2017-09-04. Here is the official blurb:

"[..] combination of fresh and refill bourbon barrels though Anthony also selected three 2008 Oloroso sherry butts to add additional layers of rich cooked fruits to balance with the lighter citrus and vanilla of the bourbon barrels. All previous Vintage expressions have been matured exclusively in bourbon barrels."

You can buy the Kilchoman 2009 Vintage in Norway at NOK 870 (8166701), and in the UK GBP 68. It is currently not available in Sweden.

Nose: Rich, meaty and slightly sweet smokiness. Oh yes, this is a true Kilchoman. Notes of citrus tremble beneath the big peatiness. With time, when the initial "fog of war" has lifted, the citrus crawl out into the light and reveal both lemon zest and lemon juice. The meat now appears as smoked sausages, and raw smoked bacon.

Taste: Full-bodied and packing a punch. A massive dose of the same meaty peat, and with lots of fresh citrus. Now we also have spices such as pepper and ginger added to the whole.

Finish: Medium long finish. It mellows out and we are left with a pleasant buzz. Still peaty though, still meaty and still citrus-y.

Comments: Kilchoman is great stuff.
