A Taiwanese whisky on the test bench now. I am tasting the Kavalan Podium, a non-age statement whisky from Kavalan.

This whisky has been matured in a combination of new American oak and the distillery's own refill casks.

You can buy the Kavalan Podium in Norway starting tomorrow at NOK 760 (1345201), and in the UK at around GBP 70.

Nose: Sweet and savoury on the nose. Sugar, malt and floral notes. A touch of oak.

Taste: Medium to light body. Again mild and sweet. A bit more fruity on the palate. Lightly floral as with the nose.

Finish: Medium long finish. Mild herbs towards the end, as well as a touch of oak.

Comment: Sit back, relax and dream of a warmer climate as the snow sets in.
