Nordic whisky #209 - Isle of Lime Kutkäldu Shareholders Edition III, 4 YO, 46.2 %

Here is the third release exclusive for shareholders at Swedish distillery Gotland Whisky. The Isle of Lime Kutkäldu Shareholders Edition III is a light to medium peated whisky matured in bourbon barrels and Hungarian oak (presumably virgin oak), with cask sizes given as 200 and 100 litres. The total outturn was 5250 bottles (50 cl), and the whisky was launched in November 2018.

Gotland Whisky used organic Propino Tipple barley grown locally on thye island of Gotland. The casks were filled in weeks 2, 5, 17, 18, 19 and 21 in 2014, and the bottles were filled between October 31 and November 6, 2018. More nerdy details available here.

Nose: Delicate fruity sweetness, as I have become accustomed to from Gotland Whisky. Light honey notes. Milk chocolate with a pinch of white pepper. Almond paste, strawberries and vanilla.

Taste: Quite rich and at least medium body. Sweet and fruity, as with the nose. Again honey and orchard fruits. Dry peppery notes.

Finish: Medium long finish. Remains balanced between pepper and honey sweetness. A light oakiness as well towards the end - drying sawdust and toasted oak. A hint of ashes and wood smoke.

Comment: The most spicy release I've had from Gotland Whisky so far. Still a fan. Keep on keepin' on, guys!
