Here at Whisky Saga we have previously tried two releases from Hibernia Distillers Ltd in Ireland (this and that). Their products are released under the label Hyde, and so far this is a very young distillery sourcing their spirit elsewhere (more here). The Hyde 6 YO No. 4 President's Cask is an Irish single malt first matured in 200 litre American white oak bourbon barrels, then finished for 9 months in 200 litre flame charred Rum casks sourced in the Caribbean (used to mature dark Rum for at least 2 to 4 years). This is a limited release of 5000 bottles. 

You can buy the Hyde 6 YO No. 4 President's Cask in Norway at NOK 740 (6230701). This whiskey is not yet available to buy in Sweden.

Nose: Vanilla, mild spices, banana and a touch of charred oak.

Taste: Somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Banana, vanilla, ginger and dark rum. It does bring to mind a banana split served with ice cream and whipped cream, with a splash of dark rum. Sweet and appealing.

Finish: Medium to short finish. Notes of citrus and burnt toast, caramel and dark chocolate. Still quite oily and rich. the creaminess is now more like melted and unsalted butter.

Comments: I quite enjoyed this. The rum finish certainly adds a lot of flavor here, maybe even overwhelming the base spirit.
