Hiernagla Tora
Hiernagla Tora, 3 YO, 51%
Tora is the third single malt whisky released by the Norwegian distillery Hiernagla. This whisky has been matured in ex-Widow Jane bourbon casks (200L and 50L), and ex-Garrison Brothers bourbon casks (100L). Then finished for a little more than a year in a 225L ex-Pineau des Charentes cask. Add to this a 100L American oak cask that has previously held Hiernagla whisky. Limited to 800 bottles.
The Hiernagla Tora goes on sale this Wednesday at NOK 990 (18752402).
Nose: Sweet and fruity with caramel, chocolate, and a hint of honey. Toasted oak and a dash of pepper add complexity, giving off dark, Autumnal vibes.
Taste: Full-bodied and richly sweet. Honey leads, followed by a punch of chocolate and a mix of assorted nuts.
Finish: Medium-long, with layers of chocolate and nutty flavors - reminiscent of a Snickers bar. Creamy and almost stout-like in the finish.
Comment: Decadent and indulgent; a dessert dram.
