This is a 2017 release from Springbank Distillery. The Hazelburn 13 YO Oloroso Cask Matured is a limited release of 12000 bottles. It was distilled in October 2003 and bottled in March 2017.

Hazelburn is the unpeated, triple distilled whisky product line from Springbank Distillery, in Campbeltown, Scotland.

The Hazelburn 13 YO Oloroso Cask Matured is released for sale in Norway on December 15, at NOK 1020 (8112301).

Nose: Deep, deeper than deep. Rich dessert. Honey cake, sugar cake, a whole bunch of other lovely cakes. Mild, dried fruits - raisins and dates in particular. A big and refined sweetness that never becomes overwhelming or 'unfortunate' in any way. It just works so well.

Taste: Very rich mouthfeel. To taste it is not all that complex, but what it does it does really well. The dominating flavors are honey, dried fruits and vanilla.

Finish: Medium to long finish. It does turns a bit drier in character, and loses some of the sweetness along the way. It just seems a little less exciting for a second or two. Then, hey! It releases all the brakes and I get a sublime landing driven by vanilla and soft toffee notes.

Comments: Really impressive on the nose, a bit more mixed to taste, then a surprise finish.
