Hazelburn is the brand name for the unpeated single malt produced at Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown. The Hazelburn brand has been used by Springbank since 1997.

The Hazelburn 10 YO is a limited release of 9000 bottles. It was bottled in 2014, after a full maturation in bourbon barrels. Hazelburn whisky is triple distilled, which is rather rare for Scotch single malt.

You can buy Hazelburn 10 YO in Norway at NOK 695 (item number 1859001). It has not (yet?) been released for sale in Sweden.

Nose (22/25): Light and rather malty nose. Creamy vanilla, with some caramel, fudge, camphor and mint. Give it a bit of time and I pick up mild fruit (apples and pears) and nuts.

Taste (21/25): Camphor and oaky spiciness. The vanilla is still very much present. Mild fruits - citrus and peach. There are also grassy notes here. The mouth-feel is oily and rich.

Finish (21/25): Fresh! Citrus and possibly a hint of some more exotic fruits. Grassy and now with herbal notes mixed in. Still nutty. Licorice. Quite long finish.

Balance (21/25): A green whisky - very environmental! Good stuff.
