Gordon Graham’s Black Bottle, NAS, 40 %

The Black Bottle is a blended whisky, made with a mix of different malt and grain whiskies. After the relaunch in 2013 is contains less Islay single malts and is more balanced with less smokiness than previously.

Available to buy in Norway at NOK 445 (4443101).

Nose: Candy store. Fruit drops covered with powdered sugar. Honey and cotton candy. Vanilla beans - the expensive variety. Subtle smokiness.

Taste: Pleasant sweetness characterized by vanilla and honey again. Ripe apples and pears. Candied sugar, toasted oak and again some smokiness.

Finish: Medium long finish. More of the same. Hints of leather. Towards the end, also marzipan chocolate and red berries. Tastes a bit like the Norwegian Troika chocolate.

Comment: One for Saturday night.
