Ferg & Harris 12 YO Speyside

Ferg & Harris 12 YO Speyside, 55.7 %

My first ever review of a release from independent bottlers Ferg & Harris. Initially matured in 1st fill ex-bourbon barrels, then finished for six months in 1st fill ex-PX sherry casks. Limited to 1192 bottles. See the official product page here.

The Ferg & Harris 12 YO Speyside will be available to buy in Norway in a few days at NOK 1297 (16671601).

Nose: The nose is darkish, opening with robust notes of leather, dried fruits, and wet leaves. There's a distinctive and heavy dunnage warehouse sweetness that adds considerable depth and intrigue.

Taste: It's full-bodied and brimming with life. A spice bazaar meets a fruit orchard, featuring dried and juicy orchard fruits alongside a generous sprinkling of spices. As you delve deeper, you'll find hints of herbs and the slightly bitter touch of rowan berries, with citrus notes becoming more pronounced in subsequent sips.

Finish: The finish stretches from medium to long, characterized by a spicy duel of black and white pepper. Toasted oak brings a warming quality, while dried herbs and well-worn leather add a final layer of complexity.

Comment: Pleasantly complex and fun.
