Fary Lochan Distillery Edition Batch #2
Fary Lochan Distillery Edition Batch #2, 5 YO, 47 %
Finally I can start posting all my Fary Lochan reviews. I got to visit the Fary Lochan Distillery in Denmark earlier this Autumn, and I brought a box full of bottles home.
The first review is of the Fary Lochan Distillery Edition Batch #2. This is a distillery exclusive, distilled 2013-11-19 and bottled 2019-05-22. It has been matured in a single Ex-Oloroso sherry cask (cask #2013-19). A total of 1106 bottles (20 cl) was the result.
This is a variant of their “Efterår” recipe, and is made from 1 % peated malt and 99 % unpeated malt.
See more details on their website.
Nose: Banana, demerara sugar and dark fudge. Coffee and leather. Rather malty. I also want to say “green chocolate”, although I’m not quite sure what that would be. With time more and more toasted oak, and a funny little side note that is a bit dirty.
Taste: Medium body. The coffee notes are more immediate on the palate. Bitter-ish coffee.
Finish: Medium long finish. Sugary sweet, with hints of vanilla, coconut and ginger. Milk chocolate and nougat. Somewhat oaky.
Comment: Coffee with one sugar, please.
Score 84/100
