Dewar's 15 YO
Dewar's 15 YO, 40 %
I follow-up with a slightly older Dewar's whisky today. This is the blended whisky Dewar's 15 YO, with the subtitle 'The Monarch'. I must admit it is a bit unclear to me if this is a discontinued product or not. It does not appear on the Dewar's official website, but there is a separate Dewar's 15 YO website from 2015 here.
The Dewar's 15 YO is not available to buy in Norway or Sweden, but appears to be on sale at certain Travel Retail outlets at around GBP 40.
Nose: A bit heavier than the 12 YO. Slightly oaky. Closed up. Caramel and orchard fruits.
Taste: Medium body. Spices now; pepper, ginger, cinnamon and hints of chili. Ripe apples.
Finish: Short to medium finish. Caramel sauce with a slight bitter touch to it. Bitter oranges, perhaps. Creamy character.
Comments: The nose is a bit "boring" compared to the 12 YO, but this one has more character to it on the palate. The spices are a welcome addition. All in all a decent dram.
