Deerstalker 13 YO Highland Single Malt
Deerstalker 13 YO Highland Single Malt, 46 %
Here is an brand new, exclusive release for Norway. The Deerstalker 13 YO Highland Single Malt is a release from independent bottler Deerstalker Whisky. This company is again owned by Aberko. The brand name Deerstalker first appeared on a whisky around 1880.
The contents of this whisky comes from an undisclosed Highland distillery. I am nearly certain it is Balmenach though, as many (all?) previous releases of Deerstalker whisky have been Balmenach.
It is matured in bourbon barrels, and that is about all the details I have on this release.
You can pick up a bottle of the Deerstalker 13 YO Highland Single Malt in Norway starting Friday November 3, at the price of NOK 695 (7973601).
Nose: A tickling of wet sawdust. Light caramel. An apple here and a pear there. Vanilla sprinkled haphazardly all around. A pinch of pepper.
Taste: A rather lean body on this dram. White pepper, and a not too hot chili. Aggressive tendencies, but in a charming way.
Finish: Medium to short finish. Banana flavoured milk chocolate. Vanilla and marshmallows. Tinned pears and and apples towards the very end.
Comments: A dram with mixed signals, what with the soft aggressiveness and the lean body.
