This whisky, from an undisclosed distillery in Speyside, was initially matured for about 8 years in ex-bourbon casks. Then it received a 6 month finish in ex-sherry 64 litre octave casks.

Nose: Straight off I get lots of red berries and chocolate. Dried fruits. A warm spiciness - cinnamon, nutmeg and white pepper. With time hints of citrus - specifically oranges.

Taste: Full bodied and seductive. Lots of sherry notes - this qualifies as a sherry bomb. More spicy than the nose suggested. Also more chocolate and more oranges.

Finish: Medium long finish. Ever more chocolate, citrus, sherry notes and mild spices. A real treat.

Comment: If you like sherry matured whisky you should give this one a go.
