Caol Ila 6 YO Provenance Jon Bertelsen, 46 %

Caol Ila 6 YO Provenance Jon BertelsenThis independent bottling from Douglas Laing is an exclusive for the Norwegian Market. Jon Bertelsen is the importer for Douglas Laing's products in Norway.

The Caol Ila 6 YO Provenance Jon Bertelsen is a single cask release, and the "sister cask" of another Caol Ila 6 YO Provenance I recently reviewed. It was distilled in November 2010, and bottled in September 2017. It was matured in a refill hogshead, and the outturn was around 450 bottles (I cannot read the exact number from the image I have).

You can buy the Caol Ila 6 YO Provenance Jon Bertelsen in Norway at NOK 790 (7946901).

Nose: Green and punchy nose! I find grass, mint and sweet malt. Rough-ish and young-ish peat. A charming ruffian. A pinch of salt rounds it all off.

Taste: Medium body and rich mouthfeel. Lots of dark chocolate and vanilla. Rum notes mixed with apples and again sweet malt. The peat is soft definitely there, but complements rather than dominate.

Finish: Medium long finish. Dark chocolate, vanilla and cocoa. Warm ashes and malt. A touch minty green towards the end. Softly maritime and peaty.

Comments: Young-ish with a charming attitude.
