Here is a core range expression from Islay distillery Caol Ila that we do not see very often anymore, especially not in the Nordics.

Luckily a few bottles of the Caol Ila 18 YO will find their way to Norway tomorrow and they will see at NOK 1300 (4701901). It is also available in the UK at around GBP 82.

Nose: Deep and rich fruitiness. Malt, dust and dried fruits. Quite sweet and mellow, even the peat is mellow and relaxed. Hint of green in the back.

Taste: Full bodied. Green leaves and cut grass, as well as ripe orchard fruits. Soft oakiness. A bit malty. The peat is well integrated and more of a spice on the palate.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Vanilla, fruits as before, a bit dry in character

Comment: A fine Islay classic.
