Bunnahabhain 18 YO

Bunnahabhain 18 YO, 46.3%

I have reviewed the Bunnahabhain 18 YO once before, but that was back in August 2014 (see old review), so I guess I can get away with another review. This core range product has been matured in a combination of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks. The sherry cask proportion is higher than on the younger core range products from Bunnahabhain though.

The will be available to buy in a few days in Norway, at NOK 2250 (9210301).

Nose: Mild yet complex, with caramel and dried fruits leading the way. Subtle hints of perfume and polish add intrigue. With time notes of licorice and leather emerge.

Taste: Full-bodied, incredibly rich and fruity. Dried fruits take center stage, complemented by a slight fizzy oakiness. Creamy vanilla in the background.

Finish: Very long finish. The rich fruitiness continues, with caramel and honey creating a luscious depth. Hints of rowan berries at the very end.

Comment: A beautifully layered whisky.

Score 89/100
