Bunnahabhain 18 YO
Bunnahabhain 18 YO, 46,3 %
According to Andrew Brown, the Distillery Manager at Bunnahabhain, this 18 YO is the whisky in their core range with the most sherry influence. Bunnahabhain is a distillery with quality products, and Andrew is truly a great guy. You can read more about my latest visit to the distillery here.
Bunnahabhain 18 YO is available in Norway at NOK 1100 (item number 9210301), and in Sweden at SEK 881 (item number 85503).
Nose: I see what Andrew was talking about. The sherry influence is very pronounced here. This is the good sherry though, not a single off-note anywhere. Licorice, soft leather, mild spices, vanilla, nutmeg and a dollop of honey.
Taste: Vanilla more to the forefront on the taste, but there is plenty sherry influence here as well. Dark fruits, berries, figs, leather, salt and fudge. Rich stuff!
Finish: Oily. Heavy on the honey. Fruits, salt and almonds. Slightly dry. Medium long and warming.
Balance: A lovely, sweet and maritime dram.
