Bruichladdich Port Charlotte PC11, 11 YO, 59,5 %

Here's another relatively new release from Bruichladdich. The Bruichladdich Port Charlotte PC11 is 11 years old, and made exclusively with Scottish barley. It is a limited release of 12 000 bottles. Unfortunately it is Travel Retail only, which makes it a little bit harder to obtain, but I have managed to get a bottle.

Funnily enough Bruichladdich say on their website that this whisky is bottled at 59,8 %, but on the bottle itself it says 59,5 %.

The subtitle for this expression is Eòrna Na H-Alba, and I have no clue as to the meaning of that. Usually they post details like this on their great website, but I cannot find anything this time. Oh well, I guess it adds to the mystery.

This is a heavily peated whisky. The phenol level is 40 ppm.

Nose (23/25): Rich and sweet smoke. Licorice, raisins, sherry notes, chocolate, salt and cinnamon. It's creamy and very 'clean'.

Taste (22/25): Smooth as velvet, caramel, peat and smoke, some ashes and soot, then fruits - sugar coated, fresh fruits. It is quite fresh and creamy.

Finish (21/25): Medium long, dies off a bit too soon, I think. Slightly burnt and almost metallic on the finish.

Balance (22/25): A very fine whisky, but I think the PC10 was a lot better. I have not tasted PC9 myself, but my wife has.
