Bruichladdich Octomore 13.4
Bruichladdich Octomore 13.4, 5 YO, 61.6 %
The maturation of the Bruichladdich Octomore 13.4 is described as follows on the official product page:
“This limited edition Octomore 13.4 began its maturing life in first fill ex-American whiskey casks for six months before being transferred into 300 litre American virgin oak casks, which had been subjected to a high toast level.”
The peat level is given at 137.3 ppm.
Nose: Chocolate milkshake as served on the second level of hell: dark, creamy, peaty, and naughty. Playful notes of orchard fruits and more creamy vanilla emerge over time.
Taste: Full-bodied, oaky, and a bit prickly. Notes of wet planks dipped in tar, chocolate peat lava, coffee beans, and dark caramel.
Finish: Medium-long, becoming more fiery with pepper, soot, hot ashes, and ancho chili-flavored chocolate.
