This is a whisky with a sense of place, of terroir. The Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2009 is made exclusively using local barley grown on Islay.

The barley comes from the farms Claggan, Cruach, Island and Mulindry. This product was bottled on 2016-08-03.

Nose: Baked apples and hints of green pears. Floral top notes mixed with swirls of vanilla.  Medium sweet. A touch of mint and cut grass. It comes across as light and elegant. Develops nicely in the glass, and becomes richer and more rounded.

Taste: Rich and full-bodied. Dry-ish at first. Malty, with apples and oaky notes (wet planks). Cut grass and light notes of floral honey.

Finish: Medium long finish. Mild caramel, honey and vanilla. Oaky and dry-ish. Green all the way - floral with herbs and grass.

Comments: A typical Bruichladdich - well-crafted with lots of flavours.
