Bowmore 2001 13 YO Blackadder Raw Cask
Bowmore 2001 13 YO Blackadder Raw Cask, 59,2 %
Blackadder is an independent bottler to be found in Norway from January 2015! We are so much looking forward to that. Almost every single one of the seventeen whiskies I have tasted from Blackadder have been very good. I think he has a good nose and palate to choose such lovely whiskies.
The 13 YO Bowmore from Blackadder Raw Cask will be made available to buy in Norway in January, at a sales price of NOK 1085 (item number TBA).
Nose (20/25): I was met by perfume, not too much, but it was obvious. Very gentle smoke. The smell was a bit sour and it seemed a bit young, still some malt on the nose. Fruity - apple and pears. After a long while a lovely sweetness came through with vanilla.
Taste (22/25): A very nice and rich taste. Vanilla and caramel. The smoke was more dominating here, which was good. Spicy as well.
Finish (22/25): The finish gave me some fun associations. It was salty and sweet at the same time, and reminded me of these candies and these candies :) A sour licorice-thing. Spicy and long finish - I could hardly detect any smoke here.
Balance (22/25): To me there was no connection between smell and taste, but that does not matter I think. I find this to be one of the better Bowmores I have tasted lately. I often find Bowmore to be too much perfume all the way, but here I only found perfume on the nose.
