This fine, old Bowmore has been matured in a single sherry hogshead (cask #90021014), and was released by independent bottler Gleann Mòr.

Nose: Hmm .. interesting - albeit in a good way. “Dirty” notes of chocolate mixed with wood smoke and earthy notes of cinnamon. Hints of perfume and fresh herbs. Strawberry fields forever - on fire!

Taste: Full bodied and rather intense. This is a whisky that demands your full attention from the get go. But then, when it has made its presence known through a perfectly executed show of smoke and mirrors. Nah, more like ripe orchard fruits and juicy berries all introduced to the business end of a fully charged flamethrower and then thrown into a heavily toasted oak barrel.

Finish: Long finish. Lots of sweet fruits, vanilla and mild sweetness. All this mixed with a darker concoction of oaky and roughish spiciness, as well as a whiff of perfume.

Comment: Dirty - with class.
