Ben Nevis 1992 20 YO Authentic Collection
Ben Nevis 1992 20 YO Authentic Collection, 56,2 %
Here is another quick review. I have a lot of tasting notes laying about, and I should just get a few more of them out on the blog. This is a review of a Ben Nevis 1992 20 YO from Cadenheads' Authentic Collection series. It has been matured in a bourbon hogshead, for 20 years. It was distilled in 1992, and bottled in April 2012. The barrel yielded an outturn of 300 bottles.
Nose (19/25): Slightly sour, boiled vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, cale...), dry aluminum kettle, a hint of vanilla and a few pepper corns. It's quite odd actually, cannot quite get my head around this one.
Taste (20/25): Salt caramel, pepper corns, vanilla, and that's pretty much it. It's a bit thin and simple.
Finish (18/25): Warm, with some mild caramel and a strange sort of taste that seems slightly off. It reminds me of the taste of the water left over when you have boiled the vegetables listed under nose in this review. Not very appealing to me.
Balance (19/25): Not really a winner for me. I was hoping for more, but that was not to be on this occasion.
Score (76/100)
