Basil Hayden's Bourbon

The Basil Hayden's Bourbon is considered a "high rye bourbon", which means the rye content is in the range 20 to 35 percent. In this particular case it is about 30 %. Since it is a bourbon the corn content is of course a minimum of 51 %.

You can (soon) buy the Basil Hayden's Bourbon in Norway at NOK 660 (2406101). It is also available in Sweden at SEK 599 (4018101), and in the UK at around GBP 40.

Nose: Vanilla, black pepper, and a mild touch of perfume. With time more caramel and toasted oak.

Taste: Medium body and sweetness. Black pepper again. Burnt toast, caramel sauce and a touch of oak.

Finish: Medium long finish. More perfume and herbal notes towards the end, but this is no cheap perfume (and also no "cheap" bourbon).

Comments: Enjoyable. I do wish the ABV was a tad higher though.
