This is a special release for the excellent whisky bar The Tasting Room in Bergen, selected by Frode Harring.

The Balblair The Tasting Room Exclusive 1997 Vintage was released January 2016. It was distilled in 1997 obviously, and matured for 18 years in a 1st fill bourbon cask (cask #1150). The total outturn was 161 bottles.

You can still get a few bottles of the Balblair The Tasting Room Exclusive 1997 Vintage in Norway at NOK 1550 (3595001).

Nose: Fruity and rich. Soft and caressing notes of apples and honey. A delightful nose really. Deep notes of vanilla and ripe summer fruits. You can sit with this for quite a while, just dreaming of Scotland.

Taste: Very rich and full-bodied. Pepper, ginger and cinnamon sticks. A lovely "burn" that warms me to the core.

Finish: Long finish. Apple pie with cinnamon and honey glaze. Warm caramel sauce with mixed spices. Maple syrup and creamy milk chocolate.

Comment: A complex dram filled to overflowing with character.
