Arran 100 Proof
Arran 100 Proof, 8 YO, 57 %
I found this whisky in the back of my whisky cupboard the other day. The Arran 100 Proof was bottled back in September 2006, and is about 8 years old.
I highly doubt you will find any bottles left for sale out there, but you never know. You should seek out whisky from The Isle of Arran Distillers anyways, if you have not already been introduced to this quality distillery.
Nose: Oh, oh, oh, immediately I am hit with that rich fruitiness that I so love about Arran. We're talking apples, ripe and fresh, green and red. We're also talking vanilla, hay, grass and barley. Summer in a glass!
Taste: Rich and smooth mouthfeel. Deep sweetness, apple flavoured honey. Citrus, vanilla and barley.
Finish: Medium long finish. Rich honey all the way. Spices (white pepper, ginger) and salt are added to the mix on the finish. There's also a strong hit of oakiness right at the end, and it is bitter and drying.
Comments: Great to get to experience such a young and vibrant Arran dram again. I have followed this distillery closely since they first started appearing on the monopoly shelves in Norway around 2005 or so.
