Amrut Port Pipe Peated Cask #3881
Amrut Port Pipe Peated Cask #3881, NAS, 59 %
A hot and spicy, peated Amrut is on the plate (and palate as it were) today. The Amrut Port Pipe Peated Cask #3881 is a single cask release, as you can tell. The cask in question was a port pipe. This is a special release to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of La Maison du Whisky in France. All in all there were 640 bottles to this release.
You can infact buy this special whisky in Norway, only a few bottles remain though, at NOK 1760 (7411001), or you can buy a bottle online directly from LMdW at € 139.
Nose: At first the peat is hardly noticeable. What I do find is a delightful mix of sweet wine, cinnamon, grapes, dark chocolate, toasted oak, and Turkish Delight! Yeah, I know that's also in the official tasting notes and not very original on my part, but I really agree. I tried real Turkish Delight myself for the very first time just a few days ago, and this is spot on!
Taste: Rich and full mouthfeel. Super rich actually. There is soo much going on here. But again, center stage is the Turkish Delight. Add to that the grapes, the sweet wine and the chocolate, and you have a harmonious elixir. White pepper, rich wood smoke, cinnamon and hints of maple syrup.
Finish: Medium to long finish. This one really sticks with you - the finish is long and the Turkish Delight now has a honey-like stickiness to it as well.
Comments: You cannot shake this dram, and why would you want to?
