Amrut 2009 Single Cask Bourbon #3441
Amrut 2009 Single Cask Bourbon #3441, 4 YO, 60 %
A couple of weeks ago I shared my tasting notes on a single cask release from Amrut distilleries; a sherry matured whisky from cask #2697. Today it is time for another single cask release, this time a bourbon matured whisky.
The whisky was distilled in June 2009, matured in bourbon cask #3441 until bottling in August 2013, a total of 178 bottles, and I have tasted from bottle 128.
It is available in Norway at NOK 1 010,80 (item number 1118501) and in Sweden at SEK 852 (item number 85017).
Nose (21/25): Fruity and malty at first. Quite heavy on the nose with tobacco and oak. Orange peel and some sweetness (vanilla) after a while. The vanilla was not so obvious as I had expected from a bourbon cask. A bit dusty.
Taste (23/25): Warm, rich and complex. The vanilla is definitely present on the palate. The taste is mostly vanilla and apricots. Some other fruits as well - oranges for sure.
Finish (22/25): A sweet, lingering and warm finish. A lot of oranges and spices. Quite dry.
Balance (22/25): Another very good Amrut. Rich and complex and not too sweet. It needed some time to open up on the nose.
Score (88/100)
