This batch of Aberlour A’bunadh was released in 2014.

Nose: Rich notes of sherry, leather and caramel sauce. With time it appears lighter in style.

Taste: Full bodied and a bit raw in character. Medium sweetness - hmm - no, it is quite sweet, but this is offset by a marked oaky bitterness. It actually has a bite to it. Sherry, caramel, mild leather and nutmeg. Rowan berries with time.

Finish: Medium long. The bitterness now morphs into rowan berries and bitter oakiness. The sherry notes remain rich and sweet, but they are overshadowed. 

Comment: The nose is alright and then some, but the palate has an unwelcome bitter sting to it. Not a high point in the A’bunadh series.
