Aberfeldy 1980 Flora & Fauna cask strengthI wrote about Clynelish 1980 15 YO Flora & Fauna cask strength on Wednesday. Today I am lucky enough to be able to give you my tasting notes on another cask strength release from Diageo's Flora & Fauna bottling series.

Well, I said this was a release from Diageo. You will probably ask yourself why Aberfeldy is a part of Flora & Fauna since Aberfeldy is owned by John Dewar & Sons which again is owned by Bacardi? I will give you the answer. This particular whisky was distilled in 1980 and bottled in 1997. And it was not until 1998 John Dewar & Sons was sold from Diageo to Bacardi.

Okay, enough of this chit-chat. Let us see how the whisky is.

Nose (23/25): Oooh...lovely! Vanilla and caramel. Very sweet. A soft and fresh smell of summer. Strawberry, cream and Prosecco.

Taste (23/25): Wow, the taste was really rich. Such a nice dram. Vanilla, cream and salt. Still my thoughts go to summer. Oily mouthfeel.

Finish (23/25): Salt and warm finish. A little bit oakiness makes it dry in the end. Lingering...and it is delicious.

Balance (23/25): Once again I was given the opportunity to taste a lovely cask strength edition in the Flora & Fauna series. Thanks again, Ragnhild!

Score (92/100)
